Brent & Gloria said goodbye to their most loyal, steady, strong, gentle horse this week. He was over 31 years old! Two Socks has had a rough few months. He was unable to eat, and was struggling to find strength at all. We will miss him!
We love you, Two Socks! Thank you, from the many children who have been able to learn to ride with your help.
It’s been an amazingly beautiful and wet winter. We have received a ton of snow. It’s a blessing, obviously. But it’s also a ton of work! Dad & Mom have spend countless hours plowing the private road, even through 70 mph wind gusts last week that blew drifts across the road.
When we were able to house-sit for them in November, we were able to plow a little bit, along with an awesome neighbor, Marty. Thanks for all of your help! I had fun, learning how to work the snowplow truck. I kept wishing for more storms, to get to do it again. But I imagine it gets a bit tiresome for my sweet parents. However, I know they are happy to do it, and enjoy the work.
Here are a few pics of our kids, enjoying the snow this winter. Happy New Year! Come up and see the snow sometime. It’s deep and beautiful!

Grandma always loves her grand babies.
Grandpa and his youngest grandchild.
What a gorgeous summer we have had here in Little Valley. A very wet spring brought some crazy tall grasses, which were beautiful when green. But now it’s all dry and a perfect kindling for a grass fire, so we have had goats eating it down. They are the cutest little things. The grandkids have loved watching them.
There have been several groups hiking and camping, and we have greatly appreciated them asking permission. Thank you all for sharing in our love of the mountains, and for taking great care of them.

I have received so many kind and positive comments about this beautiful area of Pretty Valley. Thank you all so much for your interest, and for your help in spreading accurate information. My sweet parents, Brent & Gloria Armstrong, are very appreciative of their good friends and neighbors, and are also grateful for the positive feedback they have received about this website.
They are hoping that you’ll understand, with the help of this website, that you are all friends. Please contact them if you have any questions or requests for use of their property.
Thank you all so much! Heather
We want to hear from you: ideas, experiences, or suggestions for camping, hiking, or scouting groups who are interested in staying in Pretty Valley and the surrounding area, please share! Thank you so much for your kindness and respect as you make comments. This is family-friendly website and Facebook page. We look forward to hearing from you, through your stories, pictures, and other tips you may have to share with others.
Thanks! Heather Armstrong Johnson
Situated above Farmington, Utah, Pretty Valley sits as one of the most beautifully untouched, peaceful hiking/camping sites in the area.
There are no motorized vehicles allowed, which leaves Pretty Valley pristine and raw. Above Pretty Valley, there is a beautiful waterfall, Hell Hole, which is another 30-45 minute hike further up the mountain.
Scouting groups, youth groups, church groups, family groups, and hikers are allowed to pass through the Armstrong land to these sites free of charge, with permission from Brent & Gloria Armstrong. They are happy to share the access (a road they built in the 70’s) to Pretty Valley with those who will treat it gently, and who show respect for their property by asking permission before use.
The hiking route through the Armstrong land is the easiest grade of trail to get to Pretty Valley. There are other ways to get there, which require more skill, as the grade is quite steep in parts.
We hope to help you understand more about the land above South Farmington, so you may gain an appreciation for what is available to you.
Check out the other tabs, for details. Thank you for your interest in this gorgeous area.
